On Tuesday the 16th May we were delighted to hold our first face to face AGM since 2019, in the Church Hall of All Saints on Station Road, Harpenden.

It was a very well attended meeting, including the new Town Mayor, Cllr Fiona Gaskell and her Consort, Mr Philip Gaskell; Phil Coleman from the National Association of Contact Centres; the guest speaker Elissa Da Costa Waldman; Volunteers, Trustees and Members of HCCC; local Solicitors, representatives of other Contract Centres and members of staff from the local school.

Reports had been circulated beforehand and are available on the website https://harpendenchildcontactcentre.org.uk.

We were able to look back on a challenging but successful year and to look forward to continuing our work in helping children and families.

After the business side of the AGM had been dealt with, Mrs Da Costa Waldman entertained us all with an engaging speech, briefly explaining her family history and how she become a hihgly exeperienced Family Law Barrister, lecturer, writer, Chairman of her local Synagogue and a District Councillor to name but  few of her hats. She spoke of some of the issues affecting families and contact and stayed afterwards to answer questions.

The meeting concluded with refreshments kindly provided by members of the All Saints congregation.

We welcome new Volunteers and are looking in particular for someone willing to become our Secretary in a year’s time (mid 2024), and also to assist with administrative tasks.
